A lot of the time, date night for Lucy and Cas involves cooking dinner together at the bunker then crashing in the den to watch movies. Tonight, however, they're going to do a proper date night. Or at least that's the plan. Lucy is excited because spring is finally springing in Itinere and she gets to dress up. The first stop on their data-palooza (Lucy's word for it) is the salon for pedicures. Cas has never had one (not professional though Lucy has painted his toes at home) and Lucy could use one since she's those fantastic red sandals.

After their pedicures, they're going to wing it and see just where the evening takes them.

Castiel has a very narrow idea of how to date, but a chance of pace from cooking or watching movies is welcome. As per Lucy's nudging, he wears the latest suit added to his wardrobe. As he understands it, the plan is to wing it. At first he assumed it meant a brisk walk through town (ie "fly") until the pedicure was first on the itinerary. But the pun isn't lost on him. Would the toes not count? When the technician asks if he's ever had one, he responds that Lucy has done his toes. He hasn't any idea of what he would like on his nails when asked though. He eventually points the red (or other color) Lucy has chosen.

"That color?" He will take the word of either Lucy or the technician.

Maybe Lucy can help him expand that view. Though, she hasn't had a ton of experience with actual dating. They'll figure it out together and probably better for it. Well, it's a very good suit. Oh, Cas. Has he seen her heels? Brisk walks do not happen in those heels. Red does go with her dress and she's amused and delighted that Cas is going to have his toes painted the same color. Pay no attention to the pedicurist's skeptical look. Boys can have their toenails painted colors as well.

"Can we have two special drinks too?" Lucy requests. She leans over to Cas sitting in the chair next to her and whispers conspiratorially "they're mai tais, but they're not allowed to serve alcohol so we call them special drinks." Though, in Itinere, the salon probably is allowed to serve alcohol.

Neither of them have much experience with dating then. What Cas can understand though is that Lucy wants to share this meaningful pastime with him. He is grateful. Though grateful alone doesn't cut it because there's a number of other emotions around her inclusion that sometimes just convince him he's a little horny. What about her heels stops her from walking briskly? Apologies as he has no to little idea that heels make it dangerous. (See: Ruby has been his example on how comfortable heels are for too long) Red does look good on her in his opinion. Maybe it will look good on him too? The skepticism from one yet Lucy's pique interest creates a mixed message. It's easy to trust Lucy though and nod to confirm the red for his toes.

"I don't understand why you would ask for something they're not allowed to serve?" He leans over to listen to her in his year though his eyes move to follow the pedicurist as she left the room for the drinks. Skeptical, he can't figure out how the same drinks will come.

Lucy wants to have fun with Cas. She wants to share her life with him rather than just the sex moments. That being said, horny is good. Lucy would be worried if he weren't. Mere mortals have issues with balance, pain, and heels that Ruby doesn't. Lucy is envious of that preternatural grace and Ruby's pain tolerance in general, but at 5 foot nothing and a case of mortality, Lucy does the best she can. Red does look good on him. Blue is the best color on him, but it tends to make toenail look like a Dr. House case.

"Because it's part of the whole relaxation experience," she informs him. The pedicurist comes back with two drinks in plastic cups and tiny paper umbrellas in the drink. Lucy bams brightly and takes one of the drinks with both hands, sipping at it as she does.

Being mere mortal is just about the most challenging thing Castiel has to live through yet also oddly satisfying. Balance is a good word for everything. Ruby is still one of the few that needs to follow preternatural rules. Maybe next time he will go with blue. Lucy has expressed before that blue is his color, after all, but red is good because it suits Lucy best, as far as the former angel is considered. They would need to watch House MD for him to get that reference if mentioned.

"I gather this is where I don't question it more." He understands alcohol and downs it, after removing the umbrella to spin it between two fingers. The pedicurist gets a thank you and Lucy a renewed smile.

Lucy can only imagine as she's always been a mere mortal. She's unspeakably glad that Cas is finding mortality satisfying. She feels a little responsible for Cas's newfound mortality and very responsible for his happiness as a human. That's part of the fun of nail polish: trying out different colors. Lucy likes red so she's happy to have Cas think it suits her best. They'll definitely watch some House. Lucy kind of loves the grumpy doctor.

"You're catching on," she grins at him. She tucks her umbrella behind his ear, then bursts out into giggles as the pedicurist hits a ticklish spot. "Sorry," she stifles the laughter as she apologizes to the pedicurist. "I'll be ready for it this time," she swears as she fixes her attention on her feet and on not laughing while the pedicurist massages her feet.

He's been mortal before so it's not like he doesn't have any experience. Though to be fair, Lucy is the greatest factor between him finding it satisfying rather than grueling day in and day out. Finding how to be responsible for himself is one thing he is most intrigued about too. There's lots that can be said about red like how it is the most alluring color in nature but it often signals danger in the mushroom kingdom. Lucy is a very alluring person. Cas will be there to watch the grumpy doctor and express his thoughts about the show.

He smiles more convincingly when she promises he's catching on. With these things he just needs a moment. His hand goes up to his ear to touch the top of the umbrella, never letting his eyes turn away from her. Her laughter fills the room as much as his being. He almost forgets what they're there for until another woman joins them and starts with his feet in water. They're calloused from walking more than he is used to so they need the treatment. The jet water brings him to swish his feet around before they're brought out to dry and put feet to pumice stone.

Something about Lucy's comment isn't discernible from a small joke. "You're doing a good job," he sounds convinced even though he can see her holding back laughter.

Both Lucy and Dean would be very upset if Cas found human life grueling. It's easier in Itinere because a lot of the grueling aspects of mortal life are removed (bills, jobs that are required and not voluntary). Dean will try to help Cas figure out how to be responsible for himself. Dean is actually really good with responsibility, though no one would guess if they didn't know them well. Red is often a dangerous color for lots of different animals, but to robins, for example, it's an allure. Lucy isn't the most intelligent person in most rooms, but she knows enough. She's happy to know that the allure she cultivates is appreciated by Castiel. She will welcome his thoughts and opinions and possibly offer that there's something sexy about House, but acknowledge that it could be that Hugh Laurie is the sexy thing about House.

Maybe they should get pedicures on the regular. He'll get used to walking eventually. Maybe he'll even figure out it's good for him (and potentially start running like Sam; though, Lucy will not participate in the running. She'd rather keep her figure by drinking her calories). She turns her attention to Cas. "It's hard being ticklish," she says with seriousness, but then he probably knows all of her ticklish spots by now.

Cas feels he can count on them to get him through what aspects of human life he dislikes. It helps immensely to not have nonvoluntary aspects required of him like a job to make ends meet. For example: he can eat as much as he likes without watching the budget. Maybe Cas has a lot to learn about responsibility still. Humanity comes with so many issues that an angel never will have. It's lucky he has both Dean and Lucy. In some aspects he could very easily be comparable to a robin; Heaven isn't known for its color in any shape or form. Another nice thing about Lucy is how frank their conversations get. Although on the topic of Hugh Laurie, Cas likely would suggest that he is untroubled by her opinion of him because the fake doctor is not around.

It wouldn't be the worst idea. His feet feel miles better with the sanding of dead skin from them. There is no chance Cas would ever be interested in running but he has at some point or another concerned learning to ride a bike. Bicycle touring is on his human experiences wishlist. On the other hand, Lucy is beautiful just the way she is. He is acutely aware of her ticklish spots, yes. Sometimes it's been part of the foreplay they've built on. "I fail to see what's hard about it. You're smiling as a result."

They'll certainly try. Life, in general, is much easier here because they don't have to worry about money and responsibilities. Lucy works at the Houndstooth most days, but she keeps her own hours and considers her job a bit like hosting a dinner party every day, which she enjoyed a great deal back home. Selfishly, it's one of the reasons she never goes through her door back to Birmingham, Alabama despite the fact that every time she's gone to check on her door, it's been open. Lucy is very upfront and frank about most things (trauma and sadness aside). If she thinks it, there's a very good chance she's going to say it. Cas doesn't have to worry about Hugh Laurie, fictional doctor or not. She's very happy with her non-fictional boyfriend.

Bike riding could be fun. Lucy doesn't run either and has no desire to start. Tickling as foreplay is entirely different from ticklish pedicures. "Fair enough," she agrees. "I think it's more trying to be still while someone is tickling me that's hard. Not that you're trying to tickle me." The last is said to the pedicurist.

This is the same reason he fell for her mind, body and soul. She has a great outlook on life and what Itinere has to offer and what it could all be. It could make him a little jealous if Hugh Laurie was her fictional hall-pass.

Bike riding could be something they try out this summer. They're on the same page about running. Good. Cas could tell her his list soon. "Your smile is beautiful by the way. It's one of a kind," he tells her. A little birdie told him to give compliments every once in a while and this is that.

Lucy always believes whether it's in people, Itinere, angels or just being positive. She does not, however, believe in hall passes. There's no use getting into a relationship if you're not going to be in the relationship. She's chosen to be faithful to Cas and doesn't have any desire to look for loopholes.

His list of things to do this summer? A list could be fun. She blushes, smile growing wide at his compliment. The little birdie was right. She leans over and kisses his cheek. "You say the nicest things."

Yes, Cas has learned that she has one of the most beautiful outlooks on life (even though she may not see that in herself all the time).

There is so much he wishes to experience as a mortal. She could add to the list of things! He ought to listen to the birdie more often. His head tilts towards the cheek kiss. "You deserve the nicest things."

She doesn't, but she appreciates that Cas does.

Adding to that list is something she would very much like to do. The little birdie, whomever it is, is pretty smart. "Then it's lucky I've got you," she responds.

He gives her the same wink he learned how to do by watching Dean Winchester™. "So what nice thing would you like to follow with? It might be hard topping this."

And he gets the same giddy smile that Dean Winchester often gets with that wink as well. "How do you feel about coffee and a walk? Maybe we'll end up down at the beach?"

That smile is theoretically brighter than the sun sometimes. Cas can pinpoint how at ease it puts him at though. "Is it not traditional to opt for a snow cone in this situation? However, I would enjoy a walk on the beach with you."

His smile gives her the same sort of happiness. Lucy tilts her head. "I could definitely go for a snowcone. I think there's a trailer near the beach we can get one." Lucy reaches out to twine her fingers with his then heads toward the beach.
