[The device is sitting on the coffee table in Lucy's living room. She's got a buffet of 'tail gate' food laid out including hot wings, cheese fries, chips, salsa, chili cheese dogs and red velvet cupcakes. There's also a cooler full of beer and sodas sitting next to the coffee table. The TV is showing a football--It's a black market DVD of the 2011 University of Alabama Football Season. This is game one Bama vs Kent State.

Lucy is perched on the edge of the couch wearing a crimson tide football jersey, a pair of Tide sweats and a black and white houndstooth fedora. She's got a red A painted on her face.]

Oh come on! My mother holds more than that! You can't even call that holding!

[She glances at the device with a beaming smile.]

Tailgate party at my house to watch the Tide vs Kent State. We should slaughter the guys. It's like warm up. Anyway, everyone is invited. Come and enjoy food and beer and football. It's what Saturdays were made for.

Alright, alright. I'm on my way. Merlin, woman. And here I thought the stereotypes about Americans were wrong.

[A few minutes later and George turns up on her landing, grinning from ear to... well, anyway. He's got a small crate of Weasley's Whiz-bangs under one arm which he holds up proudly.]

If this football stuff is anything like Quiddich, I thought it might need some celebratory explosions.

[George is greeted with a big hug]

Definitely celebratory explosions afterwards. Come on in.

[The giant dog is hiding under the table because he is a wuss and the large ginger cat is observing everything from her perch on the stairs.]

[Oh hey there, sexy blonde lady. You get a pretty enthusiastic hug back. He follows her into the main room, scratching the cat behind the ears as he passes it, and scoops up a wing before depositing himself and the box of fireworks on the sofa. He uses said wing to gesture at the tv screen.]

So this is 'telly', right? My Dad's always going on about it.

[The cat accepts the scratching and will likely come looking for more later. Lucy flops down on the sofa, reaches into the cooler and fishes out a beer, holding it out to George.]</small. Yup. That's the telly. Fantastic and awesome waster of time.

[He raises his bottle in toast before popping it open and taking a large gulp, then grabbing a large handful of crisps.]

So what are the rules to this thing?

[She fishes one out of the cooler and well and clicks his beer with hers.]

The different teams try to get the ball to the other end of the field down near where the goal posts are. That's the main goal. They can throw it or run with it to accomplish that. The other team tries to tackle them to stop them. There are certain things you can't do like gran the other players jersey or helmet and hold them plus lots of other little rules. The guys in black and white stripes are out there to make sure everyone obeys all those little rules and to verify goals.

So it's a bit like Quiddith, minus the snitch and the bludgers being other blokes. I can work with that.

Quidditch is brilliant. It's a bit like football but played on brooms with enchanted balls trying to knock you off.

You should give it a go sometime.

They're uniforms. The numbers are so you can tell who is who and the rest is padding so that when they hit each other, they won't get hurt as badly.
